Riso printing is a unique way to produce original art that is accessible and affordable for artists and their patrons. The inks are eco-friendly (soy based!) and the process combines aspects of screenprinting and lithography to give each image a handmade and truly original feel.
Known for its vibrant colors and rich texture, visual artists and creative writers use Riso for everything from posters and art prints to zines and self-published books. The Nth Degree Studio operates an SF9450 machine with capabilities to print up to 600 DPI. Currently, our colors are Fluorescent Pink, Light Teal, Sunflower, Blue and Black. With that CMYK range, tons of color blends are possible.

A defining feature of Riso printing is the vibrant color palettes. That’s due in part to the out-of-the-box soy ink and in part to the transparencies and overlays that are possible on the machine. Color mixing is part of the fun!

The soy ink and retro technology give each print piece a handmade feel. That includes variations in the finished product. Maybe the registration differs or the ink distribution varies. This is what makes Riso prints special.
